Doug Robbins was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Chugach Electric Association board of directors. The board voted unanimously to make the appointment at its Dec. 16 meeting after interviewing 14 Chugach members interested in serving on the body. The vacancy was created by the October passing of director Pat Kennedy.

Chugach Electric Association has scheduled a pair of outages for customers in Cooper Landing and Moose Pass. Each outage is expected to be approximately 15 minutes long. The first outage is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18. The second outage is expected to take place about 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22.

Chugach hosted an official re-opening of the lobby at its headquarters building located on Electron Drive Wednesday, July 28. Chugach Chairman of the Board Jim Nordlund cut the ribbon at a ceremony at 4 p.m. The new look was designed to better serve customers and improve traffic flow.

A power outage this afternoon left about 2,100 customers without power for up to 18 minutes. A damaged guy wire on a transmission line structure near Mile 98 of the Seward Highway snapped, flipping the guy wire into the energized lines and tripping protective breakers at Chugach's University and Daves Creek substations.

Project to test impact of technology on behavior using on-site monitors

Chugach Electric Association and Tendril, Inc., an energy management technology provider, have teamed up with 90 Chugach residential customers to determine whether on-site energy monitors help consumers use energy more efficiently and lower their electric bills.

In a unanimous vote at its Feb. 24 meeting, the Chugach Electric Association Board of Directors voted to approve contract extensions previously ratified by bargaining unit employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Chugach Electric and IBEW Local 1547 have reached agreement to extend the collective bargaining agreements for the Generation, Outside Plant and Office and Engineering bargaining units.
