Chugach wins communications awards

Chugach Electric Association received national recognition for its communications efforts. The utility won first place for a pair of activities in the Spotlight on Excellence competition conducted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. NRECA is the trade association for the nation's nearly 1,000 electric cooperatives.

Chugach's Web site (http://www.chugachelectric.com) took first place in the judging at the NRECA CONNECT Conference in May. The site, which provides both information about the utility and a number of interactive tools for customers, has won several awards in the past. Chugach also won a first place award for its "kid's safety calendar" which features award-winning safety-related art from children.

More than 700 entries were submitted in the competition that was judged by faculty members of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales
