Chugach Electric donates turkeys

Chugach Electric Association is donating 425 turkeys to local organizations this month, including Bean's Café, Clare House, the Food Bank of Alaska and the Homeless Veterans Services.

This year's donation is in response to the urgent need in the community for turkeys for the holiday meals and the gift baskets that organizations distribute throughout the local area. Chugach was overwhelmed with thank you's from the recipients when the turkeys were delivered to their organizations.

Chugach Couriers Jerry Helton and Chad Wikheim picked up the turkeys Chugach had purchased, loaded them into two trucks and took them to the Food Bank of Alaska earlier this month. Chugach distributed nearly 200 of the turkeys during the week of Dec. 13 to Bean's Café, the Mabel T Caverly Senior Center and the Salvation Army. The remaining turkeys will be distributed for Chugach to designated organizations through the Food Bank.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales.
