Chugach Electric employee joins Alaska Community Forest Council

Chugach Electric Association utility arborist Chris O'Brien has been named to the Alaska Community Forest Council.

The Council is an incorporated non-profit organization that serves as an advisory body to the state on urban and community forestry issues and efforts. It has used radio advertising and a project at the Balto Seppala Park in Spenard to educate the public on forestry issues.

O'Brien, a 20-year Chugach employee, became certificated as a utility arborist Aug. 11, 1998, and has spearheaded Chugach's certification effort as a Tree Line USA utility for the past five years. In addition, he has served on the Municipality of Anchorage Beautification Committee and continues to work with people advising them about the right types of vegetation to plant so their landscaping will not conflict with overhead and underground electrical facilities.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales.
